Hockey Club Lugano is pleased to announce that it has signed forward Dario Allenspach (183 cm, 73 kg), who has been with the Langnau Tigers since 2024, to a two-year contract covering the 2027/28 and 2028/29 seasons.

Born in Herisau on 20 August 2002, Allenspach developed in the junior ranks of his hometown club before moving to Rapperswil at Mini level. From 2018 to 2023, he was part of the EV Zug organization. He initially played for the U17 and U20 teams, winning Swiss championship titles and taking part in two junior World Championships. He subsequently featured for EVZ Academy in the Swiss League and for the first team, with which he won the Swiss championship in 2021.

Allenspach is currently enjoying a successful third season in the Emmental. To date, he has played 320 National League games, recording 35 goals and 37 assists. Called up by the coaching staff led by Jan Cadieux, he is set to make his first appearances for the senior Swiss national team in Finland in the coming days.

Janick Steinmann had the following to say about the forward, who can play both centre and wing and will join the Bianconeri in the future:

“Dario has grown and developed with every passing season. At 24, he has already gained a considerable amount of experience. His qualities and style of play will be important assets for our future roster and in the dressing room. I am excited at the prospect of seeing him wear our colors.”

At the same time, Hockey Club Lugano is delighted to announce that Santeri Alatalo will continue to entertain the Bianconeri faithfully with its unmistakable skating style and spectacular offensive plays for at least one more season. The 36-year-old defenseman, who was born in Tampere and holds both Swiss and Finnish citizenship, has signed a contract extension through the end of the 2027/28 season, with an option for a further year.

In the Bianconeri jersey, the current alternate captain has made 299 appearances to date, registering an impressive 146 points for a defenseman (29 goals and 117 assists). This equates to an average of more than 0.5 points per game.

Janick Steinmann, General Manager of Hockey Club Lugano, commented on the extension:

“Santi is one of the leaders in our group. His qualities, both as a player and as a person, are an enormous asset to the team. He is consistently in excellent physical condition and works every day to maintain his high level of performance.”
