Hockey Club Lugano is pleased to announce that the contract with American forward Nick Shorehas been extended until the end of the 2026/27 season. His previous deal was due to expire at the end of October.

In the 14 games played during the opening part of the championship (2 goals, 11 assists), Shore has confirmed his value as a center capable of bringing stability to his line and putting his international experience to good use.

Here are the words of Janick Steinmann, General Manager of Hockey Club Lugano:

“Nick adapted very quickly to our team and our league. He has shown that he is a very intelligent center who brings value to every game situation. His hockey IQ and personality are an ideal fit for our group.”

Shore (185 cm, 90 kg) won the U18 World Championship in 2010 and was selected by the Los Angeles Kings in the third round of the 2011 NHL Draft. After three seasons in the NCAA with the University of Denver, interrupted by a season in the KHL with Metallurg Magnitogorsk, he played a total of 304 NHL games between 2013 and 2020, recording 59 points, mainly with the Los Angeles Kings. He also appeared in 129 AHL games, registering 99 points, and won the Calder Cup with the Manchester Monarchs.

Between 2020 and 2026, Shore continued his career in Europe's leading leagues, representing Dukla Trenčín in Slovakia, Sibir Novosibirsk in Russia, EV Zug and HC Ambrì-Piotta in Switzerland, and HV71 and Linköping in Sweden. With 35 games and 35 points, Shore made a particularly significant contribution to Zug during the second half of the 2020/21 season, helping the team on its way to the Swiss championship title. In 2022, Shore was part of the United States national team that competed at the Beijing Winter Olympics
