Following the measures announced by the City of Lugano on 8 September to facilitate access to sports facilities on football and hockey game days, which came into force on Saturday, 12 September, Hockey Club Lugano would like to provide its fans with an overview of the current situation regarding mobility and parking availability in the area surrounding the Cornèr Arena.
Hockey Club Lugano welcomes the decision by the City of Lugano to introduce a free shuttle service, operated by TPL and marked “Corsa speciale FCL/HCL”. On game days, the shuttle will follow the route Lugaggia–Tesserete–Sala Capriasca–Vaglio–Carnago–Cureglia–Vezia–Savosa–Porza–Comano–Cornèr Arena, offering the public an alternative to travelling by private vehicle.
The shuttle will depart from the terminus 60 minutes before the start of the game. For the return journey, it will leave the Cornèr Arena 25 minutes after the end of the game and follow the same route in the opposite direction.
Starting this season, the former Termica car park, with approximately 80 barrier-controlled spaces opposite Cinestar and access from Via Sonvico, is reserved for Hockey Club Lugano staff and volunteers working on game days, who will be required to display a specific pass.
This decision makes 115 parking spaces available to the public in the area behind the roundabout at the current headquarters of the Divisione Spazi Urbani (DSU).
In order to ensure consistency with other parking areas along the city’s streets, the City has set a flat fee of CHF 5 for the use of these parking spaces. Payment is made via the QR code displayed on the dedicated signage on site.
The parking spaces will be accessible from 60 minutes before the start of the event until 1:00 a.m. the following day.
A further 150 public parking spaces are available at the Trevano schools, as well as 35 public spaces near the Lugano Cemetery.
Additional parking is also available in connection with various private businesses located near the Cornèr Arena, subject to their respective opening hours and parking fees. These include, in particular, Coop Mercato Resega, with approximately 380 spaces, where parking can also be paid for using Supercard points by registering the card in the dedicated app, and Migros Pregassona, with approximately 30 spaces.
