HC Lugano has increased its number of foreign players under contract for next season to five. Following the signings of Calle Dahlström, Zach Sanford, Rasmus Kupari and Jere Innala, the club today announced the acquisition of forward (center/wing) Olle Lycksell on a deal running through 2029. Lycksell was born on August 24, 1999, in Oskarshamn, southern Sweden.

Developed in his hometown’s youth system, the left-shot forward (181 cm, 90 kg) made his top-tier Sweden Hockey League debut at 18 with Linköping. He remained in Sweden until the age of 23, first with Färjestad and later with the Växjö Lakers, totaling 231 games and 106 points.

Drafted by Philadelphia in the sixth round in 2017, he has spent the past four seasons in North America, splitting time between the NHL with the Philadelphia Flyers and Ottawa Senators (52 games, 13 points) and the AHL with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms and Belleville Senators (194 games, 70 goals, 102 assists, 172 points overall).

General Manager Janick Steinmann commented:

Olle is an offensive forward in the best age of his career. He played in the past four years in North America where he battled for a spot in the NHL. He has proven himself to be a consistent attacking player. Olle works extremely hard and competes every night to win hockey games. I’m looking forward having him in our team and help us bringing more quality and competitiveness”.
