HC Lugano: Update about departures and arrivals

Hockey Club Lugano announces that it has reached an agreement with player Michael Sgarbossa for the early termination of the contract that bound the club and the 33-year-old Canadian forward until the end of the 2026/27 season. The club thanks him for his contribution from early August to early January and wishes him all the best for the future.

HCL also informs that seven players whose contracts are expiring will conclude their time at the Cornèr Arena at the end of April. These are defenseman Nick Meile and forwards Brendan Perlini, Jiri Sekac, Curtis Valk, Jakob Lee, Roberts Cjunskis and Stéphane Patry, the latter three having recently been among the protagonists of Sierre’s Swiss League title. Hockey Club Lugano would like to thank them and wishes them all the best in their future careers.

Regarding the roster for next season, HCL would like to provide an update on the incoming transfers already completed in recent months. Defenseman Calle Dahlström (until 2028) and forwards Zach Sanford (until 2028), Lorenzo Canonica (until 2029), Ramon Tanner (until 2028), Cyrill Henry (until 2029) and Aleksi Peltonen (until 2027) have extended their contracts with the club.

The defensemen Enzo Guebey (until 2028) and Harijs Cjunskis (until 2029), Finnish forward Jere Innala (until 2028) and Daniel Olsson (until 2028) have signed contracts and will join the team on the shores of Lake Lugano.

The situation of Swedish forward Einar Emanuelsson, currently under contract with Luleå, the club with which he has played eleven consecutive seasons in the Swedish Hockey League (SHL), remains open and will be clarified during the summer.

Finally, after two seasons as assistant coach, Paolo Morini concludes his experience within the first team’s coaching staff. The 31-year-old from Como will remain available to the club during the summer months for on-ice preparation while he considers his professional future.
