Hockey Club Lugano is pleased to welcome Jordan Murray to the technical staff of the first team with a two-year contract.

Born on January 8, 1990, in Voorhees, New Jersey, and holding dual U.S. and Canadian citizenship, Murray ended his career as a forward in 2016 after playing for the University of Wisconsin in the NCAA College League and appearing in a total of 189 games (67 points) in the National League with Rapperswil, Lugano (2012/14), and the Langnau Tigers.

Son of Andy Murray, a three-time world champion with the Canadian national team and head coach of Lugano in 1992, and brother of Brady Murray, who played for Lugano from 2008 to 2015, Jordy later embraced a coaching career.

Over the past five seasons, he has gained significant experience as an Assistant Coach in the NCAA, first at the University of Notre Dame in Indiana, then for three season s—including one championship title - at the University of Michigan, and finally at Colorado College.

Here are the words of General Manager Janick Steinmann on the choice of Jordy Murray, who will join the technical staff led by Tomas Mitell:

“Jordy was a National League player. He developed in the past five years in very good organizations. He is a young coach with a good hockey eye and already lots of knowledge in his back pocket. He is very driven to come and help us, making the next step. He will be responsible for the development of the forwards”.
