Hockey Club Lugano announces the completion of its first team coaching staff with the signing of 45-year-old goaltending coach Antti Ore.

Ore joins the Bianconeri on a two-year contract after having coached the goaltenders of SaiPa Lappeenranta for the past three seasons. The Finnish team reached the Liiga playoff finals just a few days ago, after finishing fifth in the regular season and eliminating top seed Lukko Rauma.

Before launching his coaching career in 2017 – which included a stint with the Kassel Huskies in Germany – Ore had played as a professional goaltender in the Finnish league and with Löwen Frankfurt.

With the arrival of Antti Ore, HCL’s coaching staff for the upcoming season is now complete. The group includes Head Coach Tomas Mitell, Associate Coach Stefan Hedlund, Assistant Coach Paolo Morini, Strength & Conditioning Coach Lassi Laakso and Skills Coach Flavien Conne.

The position of first team goaltending coach is now officially filled, while Paolo Della Bella returns to his former role as goaltending coach for the entire youth department of the club.

These are the words of General Manager Janick Steinmann:

“Antti Ore is an emerging coach. This season he led SaiPa to the Liiga finals, helping both the team and its goalies develop. His personality and expertise will help us grow as a team and as an organization.”
