Five players from the Hockey Club Lugano Youth Section have been selected for national youth team duties in the upcoming August events.
Forward Alessandro Domenichelli (born 2009), who grew up in the HCL system and will play next season with the Portland Winterhawks in the WHL, has been called up by the U17 National Team for the Four Nations Tournament in Plymouth, USA.
Goaltender Yannis Zambelli, defenseman Niccolò Castiglioni (standby), and forward Ryan Bizzozero (standby), all born in 2008, have been selected by the U18 team for the prestigious Hlinka-Gretzky Cup in Brno, Czech Republic — widely regarded as the unofficial U18 World Championship with top talents from North America.
Finally, defenseman Ryan Marques e Sousa (born 2010) has been placed on standby for the U16 National Team, which will take part in a training camp and play three games in Romanshorn.
