Career

Mike Sgarbossa is a Canadian center born in Campbellville, Ontario, in 1992. After his junior years in the OHL with the Barrie Colts, Sudbury Wolves, and Saginaw Spirit, he signed his first professional contract with the San Jose Sharks in 2010. In 2012 he was traded to the Colorado Avalanche, making his NHL debut in the 2012/13 season.

Over the course of his career, he played for Colorado, Anaheim, Florida, and Washington, appearing in more than 50 NHL games and establishing himself as one of the top players in the AHL with over 550 appearances and multiple 50+ point seasons. With the Hershey Bears he became an offensive leader, assistant captain, and Calder Cup champion in 2023.

In the summer of 2025, he chose Hockey Club Lugano for his first European experience, signing a two-year deal. With tactical awareness, experience, and the ability to contribute as both a scorer and playmaker, Sgarbossa is a high-quality addition to our offense.
