Hockey Club Lugano announces that it has terminated the contract of Michael Joly, which was originally set to run until the end of the 2025/26 season.
The 30-year-old Canadian forward concludes his time in the black and white jersey after two seasons, during which he played 97 games and collected 84 points.
On this occasion, HCL thanks number 88 for his creativity and spectacular plays and wishes him all the best for his personal and professional future.
These are the words of General Manager Janick Steinmann:
“After analyzing how the roster is developing, I come to the conclusion that we need a different puzzle piece than Michael Joly. To build a new culture within the team, I have to make hard decisions which are not easy, but always in the best interest of the team and of the organization. In the way I try to design the future team of HC Lugano, I don’t see how his style of play fits in. I have great respect for Michael's offensive skills and as a person. I wish him best luck for the future”.
