Alessio Bertaggia, 31, has decided to return to Ticino after spending the last three seasons with Genève-Servette. With the Grenats, the fast right winger won a Swiss national title in 2023 and lifted the Champions Hockey League trophy in 2024.
Bianconeri fans welcome back a generous and passionate player, a true fan favourite, who has signed a three-year contract (2025–2028) and is preparing for his 14th season in the National League. He made his debut in Switzerland’s top league in 2010/11 before heading to North America to play in the Western Hockey League (WHL) with the Brandon Wheat Kings and the Spokane Chiefs.
After playing around seventy games with Zug upon returning to Switzerland in 2013, Alessio spent the following years in Lugano until 2022, reaching the playoff finals in 2016 and 2018 under coaches Doug Shedden and Greg Ireland. Then came the Geneva chapter, and now the return to Cornèr Arena.
Over the course of his career, Alessio Bertaggia has played 687 National League games, collecting 234 points (104 goals, 130 assists) and earning 18 caps for Switzerland.
These were the first words of Alessio Bertaggia, back with his beloved team:
“Dear Bianconeri family, I’m extremely happy to return to Lugano starting next season. Being part of the team’s rebuilding process is a great honour, and I can’t wait to start again. I’ll give my all for the black and white colours with the goal of bringing this club back to the top.”
