Between Tuesday, September 23, 2025, and Saturday, November 1, 2025, Lugano will play as many as 15 Regular Season games, almost one-third of the entire Regular Season. Considering the prolonged absences of Rasmus Kupari, Jiri Sekac, and Marco Zanetti, the club has decided in recent days to act on the market to provide the coaching staff with a greater number of options.

In particular, the latest medical assessments regarding Rasmus Kupari have confirmed that his recovery timeline is still uncertain. The 25-year-old Finnish player is dealing with the aftereffects of a concussion suffered at the start of the season, with a subsequent relapse after the game in Fribourg, and the club intends to give him the necessary time for a full recovery.

The profile identified to strengthen the team is that of a forward combining offensive quality, creativity, and high-level international experience. Hockey Club Lugano has therefore signed Swedish forward Linus Omark, born in Övertorneå on 05/02/1987 (179 cm, 82 kg), on an agreement valid until the early November international break.

Omark has played three seasons in the NHL (Edmonton Oilers and Buffalo Sabres), seven in the KHL (Dynamo Moscow, Jokerit Helsinki, and Salavat Ufa), eight in the Swedish top league (all with Luleå) and three in the National League (Zug and Geneva). He has also participated in one edition of the Olympic Games (2018) and four World Championships. His achievements include one gold and two bronze medals with Tre Kronor, a Swiss championship, a Swedish championship and numerous top scorer awards. In every European league in which he has played, he has maintained an average of over 0.70 points per game.

In the last season Omark was a decisive player in terms of time on ice, goals, and assists (62 games, 44 points) in Luleå’s victorious campaign, culminating in a Game 7 Swedish title.
