The 205th canton's derby was won by the bianconeri. In the overfull and sold out Resega (7800 spectators), the house team won with a tennis-like result (6-3). Many goals, a thrilling game, many mistakes and penalties, even one of 5 minutes against Chiesa (game penalty): all this finally backed up Lugano, more present, more hungry to bring back home three vital points for the ranking. Lugano played with Brunner, Walker, Steinmann and Bertaggia absents and with a revolutionary defensive setup with Wohlwend on his second bench show. A firework first period with 5 goals, Manzato's accident after 8 minutes, replaced by a determined Merzlikins and many, many scoring occasions on both sides. No goals were scored during the second break though, but four times did the posts were hit: once by Giroux and three times by Lugano (Pettersson, in numeric inferiority, Sannitz and Ulmer in a few seconds). Still vibrant and fascinating was the third period which finished with the 6th goal scored by Hofmann into an empty goal. The fans celebrated for a long time after the final siren.
