The Hockey Club Lugano informs that, starting from monday, the canadian player with greek origins Andreas Athanasiou will train at the Resega with the first squad.
The strong forward (188 cm. x 87 kg.) is without a contract at the moment, after having played 64 games last season(18 goals, 11 assists) with the Detroit Red Wings (NHL), team that drafted hiim in 2012 at the fourth round.
Born 6.8.1994 in Ontario, where he played with great success for London Knights and Barrie Colts (OHL), he went to the AHL playing for the Grand Rapids Griffins. Athanasiou asked to his landmate Greg Ireland the permission to stay in shape with Lugano, in order to find a team for this season.
The Hockey Club Lugano accepted with pleasure the request, but wants to precise that has no intention to give Athanasiou a contract, because the staff is fully satisfied with the performances of our four import players.
