Before or after it should have happened. The amazing streak of Lugano in this playoff closed last night at the Resega after five straight wins. Geneva won in the 2nd game of the semifinal with the result of 2-1 in the overtime with the game-winning goal of the bearded Antonietti at 67.23.
In a game very different from the one played at the Vernets - more tactical, less intense and harsh - every team could win. Both teams had the opportunity to end the game. McSorley's men have showed maybe a little more determination, more...desperation of not going down 2-0 in the serie.
The clean net against the eagles of a once again amazing Merzlikins was destroyed after 98 minutes and 40 seconds, when, after a faceoff, Pyatt scored in the slot. Just like the other two goals, scored by Martensson for Lugano in powerplay and the game-winning goal by Antonietti.
Lugano gave everything they had, the sacrifice spirit was the right one. The concreteness and the killer instinct showed in Geneva were unfortunately missing.
In the playoff there's no time to be disappointed. We have to move on immediately and focus our energies on the next game. We know that we can and we have to play better.
