Ninth-straight home win for HC Lugano that defeated HC Fribourg-Gottéron 7-4 in a game of two halves.
The Bianconeri started the game playing with the right attitude and aggressiveness, to immediately demonstrate that the defeat to EHC Biel was just a “hiccup”.
The forward lines easily found a way to the net, from the hat trick scored by the Top Scorer Pettersson to the goals by Sannitz, Dal Pian, Hirschi and Hofmann, who scored an empty-netter.
The first forty minutes of the game showed that the team has confidence in its game plan, in the breakouts and pays attention to those little details that constitute the coach’s dictates.
The third period showed something different. Lugano was leading 5-1 when Hirschi and teammates allowed Fribourg to score three goals and Merzlikins had to make some crucial saves.
Good for all that Freddie Pettersson had the hot stick for Lugano and scored the game-winning goal with a precise one-timer.
