HC Lugano suffered a heavy 6-2 defeat tonight at the Tissot Arena in the third game in ten days against EHC Biel.
The Bianconeri had a good start to the game and quickly took a 2-0 lead thanks to Dal Pian (first goal this season) and a power play goal by Pettersson.
However, Shedden’s men were destabilized by several penalties and conceded three goals to Biel before the 20th minute. From then on, Hirschi and teammates did not perform well defensively. They did not cover neither the slot in front of Merzlikins nor the neutral zone and Biel took advantage of it.
Lugano scored only two goals but hit the posts three times and a crossbar one time. However, it was the defensive game that lacked of performance. The team was not able to play the defensive system wanted by the coaching staff and, as happened against Lausanne HC, they struggled against an opponent that skated a lot and played an aggressive game.
